Working for Christ overseas

Cheam Baptist Church is very blessed to be able to send several couples (and individuals) overseas to work in different (and often difficult) environments in the hope of proclaiming Christ and making him known. Our core missionaries that we support at Cheam Baptist are listed below.

Mark

Mark and boys

Mark Slessenger (with sons Joel & Liam) - based in Cape Town, South Africa with the Message Trust.

After 10 years working within the football prison ministry with Ambassadors in Sport, Mark joined The Message Trust in October 2013.

Mark has helped pioneer the first Message Trust hub outside of the UK and overseas initiative in prisons, business, creative arts and urban mission in Cape Town. The Message works with the hardest to reach young people caught up in crime, gangs and hopelessness and bring hope through sharing Jesus Christ through word and action across Cape Town.

Abraham & Claire

Waigi Family (1) copy

As well as supporting Abraham in this, Claire also carries out editing work for ACI and hopes to continue her own studies alongside family responsibilities.
